About Washington Lodge #3

Who is Washington Lodge No. 3

Washington Lodge No. 3 is the oldest Masonic Lodge in the state of Maryland. We recieved our charter in 1770 just a few years after the first Grand Lodge in America was established. Originally we were the Fells Point No. 15: a bunch of ship builders and dockmen. From humble origins Washington Lodge grew to great recognition. Members of the Lodge have been involved in almost every major event for Baltimore.

Over the past 230+ years we have worked to leave the world a better place than we found it and now in the 21st century we are looking to continue the trend. As the times have changed so have our mindsets shifted from railroads to internet, from feeding Lodge Brothers to ensuring that Marylanders have enough to eat every night. What we have done in the past will pale in comparison to what tomorrow holds for our Lodge.

Washington Lodge #3 is the oldest loge in the State of Maryland and one of the oldest in all of the United States. In 1770 Washington Lodge (Fells Point #15 back then) was started by a gathering of ship builders and fishermen. Over time we have been involved in many historical events such as the building of the USS Constellation to laying the corner stone of Mount Vernon to the first spike of the B & 0 Railroad Washington Lodge has made a major impact on American history.

The future of the lodge will not be any different. Washington Lodge supports many local and regional charities giving tens of thousands of dollars annually. In the upcoming years we will be targeting specific charities in an effort to make a larger impact and improve the lives of as many Marylanders as possible.
