- These Brethren are listed in several places, such as Grand Lodge Proceedings and on signed documents as Past Masters of No. 15. We cannot determine which years they served.
- David Stodder was well known in the Town of Baltimore. A shipbuilder with ways on or near Fells Point he distinguished himself by building the USS Constellation, the sister ship to Old Ironsides, in 1797-98. The war-ship saw action in 1799-1800 under Captain Truxton and proved that the United States Navy was no longer a fledgling force.
- Brother Martin was the first publisher of the Baltimore American and Daily Advertiser on May 14, 1799. The paper was the first to carry the Francis Scott Key’s poem, “The Star Spangled Banner” on September 21, 1814. He also printed our “Bye-Laws” in 1801 while Master of the Lodge.
- Dr. Tobias Watkins was a native Marylander and was initiated in Washington No. 3 in 1805. He was elected the 10th Grand Master in 1813 and again in 1816-17.
- Sheppard Church Leakin, a Baltimore native, was initiated in Washington No. 3 on February 4, 1812. During the war with England he held a Captain’s commission and was present at the Battle of Fort McHenry. Promoted several times, he eventually became the Mayor of Baltimore City in 1838.
- Nicholas Brewer was born at Marly, near Annapolis, in 1789. He moved to Baltimore and was initiated in No. 3 on January 8, 1818. Elected Treasurer of the Lodge in 1827, he served in that office until his death in 1880 (53 years!). He was also active in the Grand Lodge and served as Deputy Grand Master in 1860-61.
- Dr. Charles H. Ohr was born in Funkstown, Maryland on October 19, 1811. He received the Degrees in Masonry in Friendship Lodge No. 84 (Williamsport) in 1839 and started Tonoloway Lodge No. 86 (Hancock) in 1842. He was active in the Grand Lodge during this period, and in May 1843 introduced a resolution favoring the resuscitation of dormant lodges. Mainly through his efforts No. 3 was revived, and he served as our Master until his election to Junior Grand Warden in 1845. He aided other Lodges too and was the Master of no less than four. He was elected the 17th Grand Master in 1849 and served until 1851.
- Daniel A. Piper was born in Virginia and received the Degrees of Masonry in that state in 1827. He moved to Baltimore in 1838, and later appears in the Grand Lodge where, with his brother-in-law, Dr. Ohr, he was active in the revival of dormant Lodges. His proficiency in the work led to his election as Grand Lecturer and he represented Maryland in the Baltimore Convention of 1843. He was the first Mason to hold this office, and the only one ever elected – all others were appointed. Brother Piper was elected Senior Warden of Washington Lodge No. 3 at the first regular meeting in 1844, and ascended to the Master’s Chair upon Brother Ohr’s retirement.
- Charles E. Goodwin was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia in 1797, and received the Degrees of Masonry in George Washington’s mother Lodge (Fredericksburg No 4). Affiliating with No. 3 in 1845, he was elected our Master the following year. In 1858 he was elected the 21st Grand Master — the third Past Master of Washington Lodge to hold this office.
